Punjab: 2 dead, 11 injured as tractor-trolley carrying firecrackers explodes in Tarn Taran
TaraTaran: At least two people were killed on Saturday in an explosion that took place during a nagar kirtan (a religious procession), in Punjab’s Tarn Taran district. The nagar kirtan was being carried out near Pahu village in Tarn Taran to celebrate the birth anniversary of Baba Deep Singh. It has surfaced that the huge explosion reportedly occurred as one of the firecrackers, which were being burnt by the people during the procession, landed on the tractor-trolley carrying the rest of the firecrackers.
Tarn Taran SSP Dhruv Dahiya had earlier reported that at least 14-15 people had died. But Amritsar IG (border range) Sarinderpal Singh Parmar confirmed that only two people had been killed.
