New Delhi: Indian car maker Maruti Suzuki launched BS 6 Celerio in India at ₹4.41 lakh for the entry-level model while the top-end Celerio gets a price tag of ₹5.67 lakh. All the prices are ex-showroom, Delhi. This makes BS 6 Celerio’s base model ₹15,000 more expensive than its BS 4 counterpart. Launched in 2014, Celerio became the first car in India to be available with AMT (automated manual transmission). This a cost-effective automatic transmission technology which has now been adopted by several carmakers. In 2019, Maruti  introduced its facelift model, which added a number of cosmetic tweaks as well as new safety features. However, the BS 6 edition has not received any mechanical or cosmetic changes over the BS 4 variant. Even the feature list on the BS 6 Celerio is the same as the previous model — manual air conditioning, front and rear power windows, double-din music system with Bluetooth, USB, and Aux-in connectivity, four speakers, and steering mounted controls. The safety features available on the hatchback include driver airbag as standard, optional passenger airbag, ABS, reverse parking sensors, speed alert system, etc. New  Celerio is powered by BS 6-compliant 998 cc engine which delivers 67 bhp and 90 Nm of peak torque. This engine is offered with a choice between five-speed manual gearbox and five-speed AGS transmission.
