Attempt to murder on teenager who fired during protest outside JNU: Delhi Police

New Delhi: Teenager, who fired multiple rounds at the students outside the Jamia Millia Islamia University on Thursday, has been charged with a case of attempt to murder, said the Delhi Police, adding that he got radicalised after watching videos on social media and wanted to take revenge of the Kasganj violence in 2018.

According to sources, quoted by news agency IANS, the case has been registered on the basis of the statement of the injured Jamia student Shadab who sustained a bullet injury on his arm after the shooter opened fire at the gathering.

“Accused (in Jamia firing) doesn’t regret his act, so far he has denied being affiliated to any organization. He got radicalised after watching videos on social media. He wanted to take revenge of the death of Chandan Gupta (killed during Kasganj violence in 2018),” Delhi Police sources, quoted by news agency ANI, said while adding that he will be produced before Juvenile Justice Board later on Friday.
