BJP leader, his father and brother killed in Kashmir by terrorists
Srinagar: BJP leader Sheikh Wasim Bari, his father and brother were killed in a militant attack in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district Wednesday. Militants opened fire on Bari, former BJP district president, outside his shop near police station Bandipora at around 9 pm, DGP Dilbagh Singh said.
J&K Police have arrested 10 PSOs of the family for failing to provide security. Bari, a former district president of BJP, was associated with the party for several years. He was a member of party’s J&K Executive committee.
“Ex-president BJP Bandipora Wasim Bari was at their shop with his father and brother when some unidentified terrorist struck and shot at them injuring them critically who later succumbed,” Kashmir IGP Vijay Kumar said. Police officials said that Bari was present at their shop along with his father Bashir Ahmad and brother Umer Bari, when militants attacked them on Wednesday evening.
Prime Minister Modi enquired about the killing of Wasim Bari. He also extended condolences to the family of Wasim, senior BJP leader and union minister Jitendra Singh said.
