Box office: Ranveer Singh beats Dabangg Salman
Rohit Shetty’s Simmba was always expected to make money at the box office once release it set the box office on fire. The movie received mixed reviews from critics but is loved by audience all around. It opened on a good note and saw good growth over the weekend. In fact, on its day 3, it went into overdrive as it made more than Rs 30 crore at the box office. While in just four days of its release it surpassed the collections of Shah Rukh Khan’s Zero, it’s week one business is more than the opening week collections of Salman Khan’s Race 3 and Aamir Khan’s Thugs of Hindostan.
Simmba has so far made Rs 150.81 crore at the box office and in comparison to it, Race 3 had made Rs 144.51 crore and Thugs of Hindostan had collected Rs 137.55 crore. Simmba has also beaten the lifetime figures of Singham Returns (Rs 140.62 crore). With no Hindi movie release in its second week, Simmba has got a free run and is expected to make the most of it as it is all set to go past Rs 200 crore mark at the box office. Simmba is most likely to hit a double century at the box office. Even if it fails to do so, in the worst case scenario, the movie will become the third highest grosser of the year behind Sanju and Ranveer’s own Padmaavat. In fact, in terms of week one collections of the films released in 2018, Simmba is the second highest, with Ranbir Kapoor’s Sanju ahead of it which made more than Rs 200 crore in its opening week.
