New Delhi: The government of India announced the launch of a technology contest to invite solutions from IT companies and start-ups to strengthen digital platform ‘CoWIN’, a grand challenge by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) for strengthening the Covid Vaccine Intelligence Network (CoWIN) system.
“India’s innovators have played a crucial role in our fight against COVID-19. I invite innovators and start-ups for a grand challenge to strengthen CoWIN platform for roll out of COVID-19 vaccination program across India,” IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said in the statement.
CoWIN will be a digitalised platform to be used to effectively roll out and scale up the mechanism for Covid-19 Vaccine Distribution System, nationally.
The government aims to enhance the use of the Electronic Vaccine Intelligence Network (eVIN) system, that provides real-time information on vaccine stocks and storage temperatures across all cold chain points to address the needs for distribution and tracking of COVID-19 vaccine.
