Kaushambi: Parents Sell 13-Year-Old Daughter for ₹5 Lakh
Kaushambi: In a horrifying incident from Kaushambi district of Uttar Pradesh, a case of human trafficking has come to light, leaving authorities and the community in shock. A 13-year-old Dalit girl was allegedly sold by her parents for ₹5 lakh to a man who raped her for two days. After escaping her abuser, the minor returned home, only to be rejected by her parents, who refused to take her back.
According to the victim’s complaint filed with the Karari police, her parents sold her to a man from Etah district, identified as Kamlesh Pasi, on March 14. The girl revealed that Kamlesh had visited her home multiple times with the buyer. On the evening of March 14, after being fed dinner, she felt dizzy and fell unconscious. When she regained consciousness, she found herself at the buyer’s house in Etah.
When the girl questioned the man, he chillingly told her, “I bought you from your parents for ₹5 lakh.” She attempted to escape but was held captive and subjected to repeated sexual assault for two days. On March 16, seizing an opportunity at 3 a.m., the girl scaled a wall and fled. She managed to board a train from Aliganj station and reached Bharwari railway station in Kaushambi.
Heartbreakingly, when she reached her parents’ home, they refused to let her in, stating they had taken ₹5 lakh and told her to return to the buyer. They allegedly assaulted her and drove her away. The girl then sought refuge at her uncle’s house in Manjhanpur, where she narrated her ordeal.
Circle Officer Abhishek Singh confirmed that a case has been registered against four individuals, including the girl’s parents, the buyer from Etah, and another person from Karari, under relevant sections. The police have recorded the victim’s statement and formed a team to apprehend the accused.
The Child Welfare Committee (CWC) has also initiated an investigation. CWC Chairperson Kamlesh Chand stated that the minor, an 8th-grade pass, will soon be enrolled in Class 9 at a residential girls’ school. Her aunt and uncle have been designated as her guardians.
The case has sparked outrage, with authorities vowing strict action against those involved in this heinous crime.
