Mayawati slams Lucknow University proposal to add CAA in Political Science syllabus

Lucknow: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) President Mayawati on Friday strongly criticized the Lucknow University’s (LU) proposal to include the Citizenship Amendment Act in the syllabus in the Political Science department. Dr Shashi Shukla, head of the Political Science Department, announced on Friday that the proposal for including the CAA in the curriculum had been prepared and a programme in this regard would be held in February. The proposal will be accepted, if approved by the Executive Council.

Mayawati, in a series of tweets, said that while debates on CAA were acceptable, it was wrong to include the controversial issue in the curriculum and that too, when the matter was in court. She even said that whenever the BSP returned to power in Uttar Pradesh, it would remove the subject.
