PM Modi launches ‘Mahabahu-Brahmaputra’ initiative and several development projects in Assam

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi launches the Mahabahu-Brahmaputra, laid the foundation stone of Dhubri-Phulbari Bridge and perform Bhoomi Poojan for construction of Majuli Bridge in  Assam through video conferencing.

However, Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Mansukh Mandaviya  and Chief Minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal, Chief Minister of Meghalaya Conrad Sangma are present on the occasion.

Today’s event of Prime Minister Narendra Modi will give a much needed boost for large numbers of people in Assam and Meghalaya in terms of better connectivity. The launch of Mahabahu-Brahmaputra will be marked by the inauguration of the Ro-Pax vessel operations between Neamatighat  and Majuli, North and South Guwahati and Dhubri-Hatsingimari. It also includes Shilanyas for construction of tourist jetties at four locations to promote employment and river tourism.
